Default Welcome to Project '69.

Well, I may have my hands full with this one, but what the heck! Say hello to "Project '69" Torino GT. Has a clear title, it runs, and appears to have all the pieces, though not installed. 302 with alum. intake and 600 holley, auto trans and 9in rear. It's auto on the column with bucket seats and used to be Dark Ivy Green with gold stripes. Gonna be awhile before it sees the road, but at least it starts and runs. Price? 1k. Gonna be fun!

Thanks, Bill & Howard. Hope to get started on it this weekend. Gonna put the interior back together first then get under the hood.

Well, got the car moved to the shop yesterday. Actually had it fired up and running. Even drove it a bit in the lot. Kind of a challenge with the seats and column unbolted plus power steering unhooked. Brought the dash home and worked on it today. Took a headlight polishing kit and shined up the gauge lenses. Worked quite well. The lower dash was gold originally to match the interior but the previous owner changed the seats and door panels to black. So we sanded it down and repainted it semi-gloss black. Also cleaned up the dash pad as best we could. Should be replaced but can't swing that right now. Gonna go ahead and replace the headlight switch and gauge bulbs before we put it back together. Probably next weekend. Well, that's the update for now. Will keep ya posted if interested.

Bill

Cool looking dash! Keep the posts coming, glad to see that someone is making progress with their car, definitely isn't me.

Got the floor undercoated today. Also located the rest off the seatbelts in the trunk so that's a good thing. Removed the top pieces of the door panels and brought em home to sand and paint. Now we can start putting it all back together. Fun-fun!! That's for next weekend since it's supposed to rain tomorrow.

Lucky there's no rust on the floor boards!

Whatever rust there was had beeen taken care of by the previous owner, Brian. It wasn't an expert job but it is solid now and that works for me. Have to drill a few new holes for the seat bolts in the new metal, yet. Gettin her done a little at a time!

Figured I'd update on our project. Haven't been able to devote much time to it but we've gotten a little bit done. The seats are now installed and we're ready to tackle the dash reinstall. Got the engine bay looking a bit better and dressed up the engine some. Still have a couple more pieces to put on and have to fix the pulley setup. It's not quite right. Also did a refinish/restyle to the grille. The chrome was pretty crappy so I used the metalcast on it and blacked out the rest. Also refinished the GT emblem. I have to get new clips before I can attach the hood trim. That's it for now.

Thanks, Annisa! I wish I had more time to spend on it, but I'm chipping away slowly.

Just a little progress report. Haven't done a whole lot lately but I did get started on the dash yesterday. The lower dash is bolted in now. I have the dash pad just test fitted in place in these pictures. Gotta tackle all the heater instal before I secure the pad in place. I do like the way the dash turned out. The red pinstripe adds a nice touch, I think.
Will keep ya updated as we go.

Bill

The pin stripe really sets the dash off!

Maybe not on this one, but the hood on the Camaro looks great! Here's to hoping the weather turns and you can get back to it!

Got her up on jackstands, all four corners today. Will be easier to go over the brakes, bearings and such now. Plan to make some real progress this season!
