A guy I went to High School with called me a few days ago, asking about a local Hooters. Apparently he and a BUNCH of other Mustang owners are planning to cruise down from Chesapeake. So far, they have in excess of 40 cars coming, including some race gassed 800+ HP cars
They have already made contact with the Hooters Mgmt, and are still in the planning stages. But it does seem to be a definite, with the people already committing.
I saw that Anissa already posted a welcome for them on their board, but I couldn't find a mention of it here.
Here is a link to their thread. (http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151436)
I am planning to show up there for a little while, and hope you guys can make a showing also

We would plan on showing up but it has been made clear that our "non-mustang" members, which is most of our club, is not welcome. These may be Mustang guys but they are definitely NOT car guys!

I totally agree with you Brian, after hearing that they wanted nothing to do with non Mustang folks, my sentiments are the same as yours.

I feel the same way. I've had a few different brand cars and never felt the need to exclude others because of the marque they preferred, probably one of the reasons why I'd joined this club. -DT

Sounds like a lot of ego for one parking lot, not sure there is room for us... but you know i will stir up trouble at anytime

Hello Nova, It is THEIR Cruise and they select the membership requirements that they'd like. There are lots of other clubs with specific rules. I had a 1947 Ford business coupe with a 3 speed and a flat head, and belonged to the "Early Ford V-8 Club". The '47 was fine, but my 1927 Ford with a Big Block Chevy engine was unwelcome; it was the Early FORD V-8 club after all... Our club is open to car and motorcycle people. If someone showed up with a hot Vespa we'd probably dig it. (I was hoping to have the Pro-Street, V-4 Saab powered, Yugo ready for this years Shamrock Show, but the lack of suitable adapters is holding me up.) It is nothing personal with clubs that are more restrictive in their membership parameters, it is just their way of selecting members with more in common.

As Andy said, they can't control who is at Hooters. I think they are starting to come around to that way of thinking. I certainly understand only wanting Mustangs to participate in their cruise. Just as Dr. Tom has explained, some clubs have their rules and I can certainly understand and respect them.
My concern was with the invitation and then oh... please ask your non-mustang members to not come around that day. Would it be cool to see a parking lot full of nothing but Mustangs?? Well, yeah! But I'd also like to see a lot full of Vettes just as much and hope that if and when the Vettes decide to come down again, that my Mustang would be a welcome addition to join in the fun!!!
I'm not getting too upset yet, there is still time for them to change their mind and as I said, it looks like more level heads are going to prevail.

If our entire club isn't welcome with the cool kid club, then, in my opinion, we shouldn't lift a finger to help as the FFCCC. They can handle it without us. That said, our individual members are certainly able to enjoy the cruise and fellowship if they choose.

I've received word that all our club members are welcome to attend the gathering at Hooters. They would like to have a count of those planning to attend. Please post here and I'll add you to the list.

The Wifey and I are planning to drive up to Chesapeake to meet with their group in the morning and cruise back down with them just because it's gonna be a badass sight with all of those Mustangs riding down. :)
I understand the thought that it's not cool that they're not letting any other brands in, but it's not a "Car Club"... it's a bunch of Mustangers, if you will. They're pulling in Mustang people to cruise from almost every local forum and car club in Southeastern VA. Kind of a smörgåsbord of Mustangs.
When Ray ('nem" from ModularFords) contacted me about it, I told him about the FFC, not to solicit for any help, but for his wanting to let the Club know that they were coming into the (FFC) "turf" (His words, :rotf:) and to invite the local car guys/gals for a meet and greet.
As of right now, they're at 68 Mustangs, and growing everyday, for this one-day cruise. An awesome opportunity for advertisement by the FFC members for the upcoming Shamrock Car Show to car/Mustang people that may not be a part of Car Clubs, and may not know about it.
I hope to see y'all at Hooters, as I am not a Hooter hanger-outer-type, if you will.

Andy, since this continues to surface, let me clear up any and all confusion...
We never asked to be included in the cruise... ever. We certainly understand make/model events such as the cruise and have a lot of respect for such. It was only ever mentioned after they invited the "club" to Hooters that we were an all make all model group. It was then that the non-Mustang vehicles were uninvited.
But, it's all good. I think they were confused as to what we were asking even though I was very specific in my wording. I choose to go with it was a misunderstanding and just enjoy the day!!
I wish we (Eddie and I) could make the cruise but I don't think that's going to be possible. Get pictures please!! It's going to be an awesome sight and I look forward to seeing all the ponies when they get here!
It's unfortunate that their event is after the show... it would have been great to have them there.

My bad about the Show, I meant for future shows.
I am gonna try to get as many pics as possible, but the Wifey is Camera illiterate, LOL

I knew he wouldn't like that suggestion. If I remember correctly Andy, you took some real nice rolling shots last year when SEVMC came down on their cruise. If it's not restricted to modular Stangs, I wouldn't mind heading up and joining the cruise down. I'll have to see what my schedule is that day though.
BTW, it was hard to resist drifting around that corner by Billy's when I saw you the other day! But I did. ;)

I don't think there is a year restriction, but I'll check with them. Can't see why there would be.
Next time you see me out and about, hollar if you want a picture being pulled over... we could sneak into Sunrise Crossing for a snapshot :cop:

The daughter has begged to go, so she'll be squished in the back, and has camera duty.
