What a blast we had. After a long (and painful) 5 hour trip out to Danville VA, we finally reached our room around 2pm to drop everything off and head to the track. When we got to the track we started walking through the paddocks in awe at the set-up that some of these guys have. We made friends with a race team out of Florida that had brought easily a cool million dollars worth of toys with them, including 2 GT-R's and 4 Miata’s not to mention the 18-wheeler with piggy back trailer.

After hanging out for a few hours and watching some of the awesome time trial racing going on it was time to head over to our karting enduro. The team consisted of George, Carlos, and me. The karting was awesome and we took 6/13. There was this one off camber turn that I kept on spinning out on and going off course, it was more difficult than I anticipated.

When the race was over we were all starving, only to realize how seedy and depressing the town of Danville is. It made the OBX in the off season look like Miami Beach during spring break. I believe the pasture called it "podunk" for whatever that means. We finally settled upon the Texas Roadhouse for a meal, where I would recommend an oxygen tank for the non-smokers. We all ended our evening around 9:30 when we passed out.

At 5:40am the phone rang, our wake-up call. We hurried downstairs, grabbed whatever food the holiday inn had to offer, and then out the door. Only to walk outside and see darkness and RAIN! It was a very depressing start but we were all very optimistic that the rain would stop. Upon getting to the track at 7:20, in the rain, we went for our tech inspection followed by circuit school for the novices. The class itself wasn't too helpful and should have been skipped for another 3 hours of sleep.

The rest of the non-novice group showed up at 10:30. There were 60 cars in total participating in the circuitcross. The rain finally stopped and the sun was coming out. I ran in the 3rd heat which worked out pretty well because the track was nice and dry. We ran into one small problem when my wastegate due to dry rot from all the heat the turbo makes. We quickly cut the line down and got everything back up and running only to miss 1 run. So far this season I am 2/2 with going through the finish line backwards.

Enough typing....on to the pics....

Mitch it sounded like an awesome weekend. Wish we could have made it. I bet that sideways finish couldn't have went any smoother. Thanks for the FORD pics.

Nice car, and driving to match. Thanks for letting all of us take a ride with you by way of the dash-cam. That looks like a ton of fun. I can imagine the adrenaline that went with it. Wild! -DT

Looks like you had an awesome time! Good job missing the timing equip. If you don't spin at least once you're not really trying! Ready to do it again? That looks like a difficult track. Summit seemed much easier to me. Maybe I'm just more used to it, IDK.

That spin was on my second hard run. My goal for the day was to keep it on track. You would be surprised how any cars went off course.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. You can tell by your video how much elevation change there is on that track. VIR is obviously a much more difficult track to drive than Summit Point.

Yeah, that last off camber turn where I spun was a bitch if you were carrying too much speed.
