My Wife was approached by "Michael" at her work today at Flying Fish Screen Printing... he was remarking on our car (She decided on her own to drive  :D ) and mentioned the Group, so I figured I'd stop by and sign up.

We own an 03 Azure Blue Mach 1 with a few bolt-on Mods... other than a few annoying aesthetic "driving" caused blemishes, we dig her.

With just Bolt-Ons, she dyno'd 314hp 324tq at the wheels (for an A/T no less) She was Dyno'd at DTP in Chesapeake.

Here's a pic of our Baby

It dont have to wear out to built it up. :cheers:This is true, but as a lowly County Employee, I must be able to justify expenses; not just cuz I wanna :D

I had my lower intake separate on me a while back... and took FOREVER to diagnose why the girl wouldnt start.

I was ready to have the front end taken off after a week or so to check to see if she jumped timing from a busted tensioner or whatever. I would have had a good one there, and I had the wife going along with Upgrades if I bent a valve or more.

But, it was a simple remove, clean and weld.. and she runs like a top.

Free advice... if you ever buy a ported lower, make sure she is tig welded and NOT epoxied... only lasts about 3 yrs

For now the Mach is peppy enough for me. I need 10.5s first so I can have a little traction. I am sure, just as many other things in my life, it will not be enough eventually, then no matter what is done - IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH :D

hey just wondering how you passed nc inspection with no cats. i could not find anyone to pass it for me. :computer:Well, the Dealer inspected it a few days before I bought it..... I didn't know it had no cats til a few days after. That was my Bad.

Then I couldn't get a Muffler shop (on this Beach - very recommended guy too) to even make it legal.... said he couldn't touch it (unless I was to put original equipment on her) - PERIOD. :banghead:
I wasnt about to shell out Ford Parts money for stock manifolds, stock cats and mid-pipe. Stupid if you ask me, as long as I put cats and it was legal. Said when the Mach hit 8yrs or 80k miles (something to that affect), then I could go aftermarket cats

BS in my opinion. But, I'll deal with that when the sticker comes up again.

70STANG
February 13th, 2008, 07:44 PM
Yeah, it's not like it used to be. I used to have a friend who was a state inspector in VA. I would call him up and give hime the VIN #, etc.. and he would bring me a sticker. Where's my easy button?!

There used to be a place down here that was pretty easy on inspections but they are closed now, go figure. Besides, I don't think they were so lax that they would miss a couple of converters.

The best solution is to get a 30 year old car and not worry about converters, air pumps, or even inspections!

The Wet Fart - Lasted about a month after I bought her. Could not stand it.

Then I bought a Magnaflow catback (not the magnapacks) Much better, and still a straight through design.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v602/acreature/Mustang/th_b5047075.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v602/acreature/Mustang/?action=view&current=b5047075.flv)

I am waiting to hear a 32v with all Bassani exhaust... Only thing I am lacking is the mufflers, but dont want to shell out the buckees just to hear it if I dont like it.

A lot of Mach guys swear by them as they say it has a very distinct tone on a 32v... but I have yet to hear one with Bassani headers, Bassani O/R X and Muffs. The ones I have heard w/ bassani muffs either lack the mide-pipe or have stock manifolds, etc etc...

The destination is not important, it's the drive! I usually take my car out a couple times a week, once to Hooters on tues and at least once during the weekend. It would be nice to have some better roads for driving but it's still a blast!

Some old high school friends and I also plan a few trips a year we call Road Rallys where we get together and take our muscle cars for a drive up to Northern VA via some nice back roads thru Orange County and the Shenadoahs or anywhere we can find some nice twisty roads. Always an awesome drive! We're planning our spring trip right now, I can't wait!

Yeah, nothin' like a shaker! That's my buddy's '69 Mach. He lives up in VA Beach so I'm trying to get him to come down for the Kellys Car Show.

The way I look at mileage is that if the car is not your daily driver then you're probably not going to put more than 3-5k a year on it. And unless it's an extremely valuable car WTF. In fact, the '69 Trans Am in some of those shots belongs to another friend of mine and he drives it on our rallys all the time, and drives it hard. And that is a 6 figure car!

Thats what I was hoping for, but am on an 8-9k a year roll.

Once my Daughter starts driving on her own, she'll have the Taurus, and there will be more on the Mach... unless I can bring myself to drive the 4Runner :o

70STANG
February 16th, 2008, 06:02 PM
Even 9k is not that much. If you keep the maintenance up the car will last for quite a long time. And if you still love it when it starts having mech trouble, tear it apart and rebuild. The cost is well worth the years of fun you'll get out of driving her! The way I look at it, who's to say I'll still be around when my car is all tired out. Right now, she LOVES to run. Especially with other "horses"!!

you just have to tell your self that im doing nothing to it to make it go faster.

That is the one thing I swore I wouldnt do.... a track. :o

I get too easily caught up in those things. Next thing, I'll be buying slicks, upgrading the suspension, spending 3000k on another built tranny... etc etc :banghead:etc..

My wife has been trying to tell me that our stereos in the other two cars cant get any better sounding, or louder... I have a hard time not upgrading once the bug bites me.

I agree, if the budget doesn't allow (and whose does), then just run what you have and have fun with it. I REALLY need to redo my interior, but it's just don't have the $$ so it is what it is for the time being. It sucks but that's reality. Maybe if someone wants to sponsor the rest of my build I can do it. Any rich takers out there?:rolling:

No budgets, no pressure. We all want to make our rides better but let's be honest, there're all pretty cool as they are now. Let's enjoy em and have some fun!!!

I know exactly what you're talking about. My truck definitely needs some TLC. I lost the tailpipe at the rear of the muffler last year and I'd like to replace the whole system w/ a lower restriction 4" stainless from the turbo back. And now I notice I have what I think is trans fluid leaking. I think it is a hose connection at the trans cooler. Always something!

God help you, you're in the same boat as me with a 15 yr old daughter! Awesome that she helped you work on the cars. My daughter just finished her drivers ed class and is ready to get her permit but I told her that she needs to learn how to change the oil and change a tire before I let her drive. If the weather is decent this weekend maybe class will be in!

Mine was supposed to get her Learner's last Nov... but her grades weren't up to par, so she has none as of yet. Interims come out this friday, so for her sake, they best be better. :D

Yep, we're definitely in the same boat. Algebra grade needs to have come up by this interim, so we'll see how she's done.
