4 Cylinder RX-7? Did he do a motor swap?

Absolutely, the early Rx-7 came with a 12A twin rotor wankel engine.
What type of 4 cyl did you put in and how is it hybrid?
Love the burnout pics, you can't keep that grin off you face!

It's a 2.3 liter ford turbo motor with a t-5 tranny

The engine came out of a 1988 Merkur XR4TI:eek:...many will know it (the motor)from the Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, in the XR4TI it was not intercooled and made just shy of 200 hp stock..not much, but it is easy to get 50-75 hp with simple mods...the eng will handle 400 hp easy(with proper supporting mod)that may not sound like much, but remember, the car is in the 2000-2200 lb range
I built all of the mounts and wired the ford ECU into the Mazda system...relocated the radiator and modified the ford pan to clear the steering.
it is still running the Mazda rear end...3 90 posi....a tough piece but the gear is a little high for the torque of this motor..
I consider it a hybrid because this motor does not belong in this car...it's a little different use of the term than we are hearing out of the car companies today :D this was not built to save gas and transport me around in tree saving comfort.. I built it to beat the HELL out of it!!!:p:p (and have fun doing it)
as you can see I have some loose ends to take care of but it is nice to see it run...it has been sitting for almost 3 years (on the edge of running) and thanks to George and Ron and a few others, I was pushed :D to 'finish' it
George clicked off some pictures Friday...I/he/we will get some up soon(george, send them to my yahoo address)

I don't even know....probably like a bracket from something completely random

Looks like a body support for a pick-up fender, or maybe a coat hanger. LOL

It might actually be a fender support bracket. It does the job though, I've been grabbing some gears hard....

got my inspiration from Ron, who is building a rat rod!!!:D:p
That sweet piece is just some support rod I had laying around.....in the rush to shift after it was first started, we hose clamped it to the lower mount(read me...I'm sure no one but me should take 'credit' for that high tech build)
it didn't hold for many shifts:confused: they(clamps) couldn't handle power shifting:confused::rolling: we then drilled the rod to fit and there you see the finished product!!
BUT no worries...Ron and I went to the junk yard in VA Saturday and I scored a mustang shifter :clap: it was high dollar though....I had to pay almost $5.00 for the thing:eek::D I got the boot and all so I hope to be cleaning up the interior next:cheers:
