View Full Version : Manteo High School Homecoming Parade
October 11th, 2010, 10:54 PM
We have been asked if we could supply some cars for the Homecoming Parade for Manteo HS on Fri, Oct. 15. That's this coming Friday. They are looking for at least 3 convertibles to drive "Teacher of the Year" recipients and any other vehicles that would like to be in the parade. They would like vehicles to arrive at the HS at 3:15. The parade begins at 4 and lasts approx 30 min. The Home owing court procures their own rides so we don't need to worry about that. Please post here if you would be interested in taking part and be specific as to which part so I can let them know.

I agree, it was a blast!!!! I was honored to carry the 2009 Homecoming Queen and her mascots. I plan to be available for next year.

Awesome, thanks for volunteering your time and cars; I'm sure Manteo HS appreciated it! Bob Spencer is up at Currituck HS for their Homecoming. Don't forget, next Fri is FFHS! Thanks again!

Correction: I'll be there Halloween weekend. (And I'll be keeping an EAR out around the Kitty Hawk Police Department.) Hey, how were the Hot Rods and restored oldies this weekend on the beach? Just berfore I left, I chatted with a nice older (well, older than me...) couple from Virginia with a home in KDH, that had a beautiful Cream/Black, Mercury Cyclone convertible, and a Cream/Red, V-8 4speed Falcon Sprint. They said a large group of cars were headed for the beach. I saw a quite few South-bound on the ride through Va.. Really sweet looking and varied, rolling Automotive Art! -DT

They were a cruising club. They don't do shows... just drive! I saw quite a few all week, very cool!!

I ran into a few of them on Thurs. Anissa is correct in that they are a cruising club. The folks I talked to were from Ohio but not sure if they were all from there. They pick a "hub" destination and either drive or trailer their cars there. From that location they do day cruises for the week. Seemed that most of the cars were 50 or 60s era cars in original restored condition. Very cool idea and seemed like a lot of fun!
